Transportation Rural Improvement Program (TRIP)
The State of Connecticut established the Transportation Rural Improvement Program (TRIP) in 2022 to provide state funds, through the SECOG, to municipal governments for infrastructure improvements in rural areas of Connecticut. Additionally, SECOG can assist with identification and development of potential transportation-related projects through TRIP.
Some examples of potential projects include roadway, signal, and bridge structural and safety improvements on any roadway within rural areas of eligible municipalities, excluding urban roadways. Eligible municipalities are those with greater than or equal to 50% of their population living in rural areas; refer to the map below to determine rural eligibility. CTDOT’s TRIP guidelines establish the responsibilities for municipalities, planning regions, and CTDOT.
